Intro
Irish post-punk artist, Ava Vox, has officially launched her latest album, Immortalised. If you are a fan of bands like Siouxsie and The Banshees, The Cure, and Florence and the Machine, then you will probably enjoy the Immortalised album. Ava Vox has been kind enough to answer all of our questions. Please welcome Ava Vox to the blog!
Interview
Where was your first concert as a fan? As a performer?
My first gig when I was a teenager was Siouxsie and the Banshees, supported by the Virgin Prunes (Irish Punk Band). The first gig I played was about 1986, when I was lead singer with my old band ‘The Seventh Veil’ in the Earl Grattan in Dublin City, Ireland. We were a support act. The first gig as Ava Vox was the launch of my debut album ‘Immortalised’ just a few days ago on the 25th of March 2022. The reason for not gigging sooner was due to the Covid Pandemic and restrictions in Ireland.
Do you have a bucketlist? If so, what’s on it?
Yes, I am doing really well getting through it so far, but I do have a few more on my bucket list and I am sure it will extend as time goes on;
1. Support act to The Cure.
2. Support act to The Mission.
3. Meet Sinead O’Connor.
4. Meet Patti Smith.
5. World tour, everywhere my song has being featured on the radio would be amazing.
6. Myself and my band to perform on Irish, English & American TV.
7. Interviewed on TV.
8. Visit where my biological maternal grandfather lived, which was in Clearfield, Pennsylvania, USA.
9. To have a holiday retreat in Rhodes, Greece (I have always loved Greece since my very first holiday at the age of 13, to Athens. As it happens, I later found out that I have distant relatives from Greece, so I have a bit of Greek blood as well as American).

What are you listening to at the moment?
Actually, I am listening to my new debut album ‘Immortalised’ which I just recently released on Friday 25th March. In my album ‘Immortalised,’ I revisited some songs that were written collectively by me and my previous band. I wanted to give these songs new life again. The album also contains 3 cover songs ‘Love Song’ by the Cure, ‘Life on Mar’s by David Bowie, and Tainted Love by Soft Cell. Each of these artists and their songs were inspirational to me.
If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing?
All I ever wanted to be was a singer/musician, since a young child.
Who would you like to collaborate with in the future?
If David Bowie was still alive, he would have been high on my list of people I would love to collaborate with. Definitely, Robert Smith from The Cure. Wayne Hussey, The Mission.
What do you want people to know about your music?
My genre of music is original alternative rock post-punk with an 80’s vibe running through it. We just love writing original music and performing on stage. My musicians are extremely talented and come from all around the world, Brazil, Italy, Scotland and Dublin, Ireland; this brings a unique sound to our music.
