Tell us about your latest project

My new album titled “Kill the Magic” is a 11 track full length within the rock genre. The album is a collection of ambient and rock songs written over the years of 2018 to now. The album kicks off with the message driven rock tune “Off My Feet” and moves along with the ambient soaring vocals in “Nothing Pt. 2”. It moves more into the rock genre with the imagery driven soft rock “Fallen Moon” and reaches its hard rock destination with the doom metal similar to Black Sabbath “Cultivate Madness”. This album marks the first full length since 2019’s “Underdog”. Overall it is a much softer album delving more into the ambient and cinematic realm. Like his last albums, “Kill the Magic” was produced by Justin Bender and himself and features musicians Mark Ennis, Aaron Edgar (Third Ion), Mike Young (Mother Mother), Rob Dakiniewich.

Where was your first concert as a fan? As a performer?

My first ever concert was Doobie Brothers and Trooper in Regina, SK Canada. My first show as a performer was also in Canada at a little dive bar in Pilot Butte, SK.

What is the secret to writing good music?

I believe to write good music, you have to be proud of it. The song should have had enough time and thought involved in it that you feel proud to release it. That if you were just the listener you would want to listen to it. I think you have to have respect for your song that you dont just slap a lyric or instrument in there just to finish it quickly. Also I think you should not limit your own creativity, make the song however you want it.

Do you have a bucketlist? If so, what’s on it?

I do have a bucketlist of alot of strange life things, such as spend new years eve in times square NY. But for music I have always wanted to get a gold record. I have always dreamed of opening a show for Black Label Society.

What was the last thing that you read?

The last thing I read was the Montana State of the Arts Council newspaper.

How do you deal with anxiety while on stage?

I don’t get too nervous these days, i’m not sure that is a good thing or not. Every so often tho if i’m playing at a festival or opening for a big named band the nerves come into play. When that happens I just try to focus on the next step of the song, the next chord the next lyric. I remind myself that this is what I’ve been doing for all these years and its just music and its all fun.

What are you listening to at the moment?

I’ve been listening to the new Everygrey album, which is deadly. As well as the new Korn album and “So” from the great Peter Gabriel.

If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing?

I would probably be into the film industry, not so much acting but working with writing, directors.

Who would you like to collaborate with in the future?

I would love to collaborate with Cory Marks in the future, for a little twangy rock tune that I have been working on.

What do you want people to know about your music?

My music has always had a darker tone to it, it has always been geared towards the underdogs, the loners, and the deep thinkers. It has always had a philosophical theme to the songs.
