Beau Jennings and the Tigers, an indie folk band from Oklahoma, have the right idea about the vibe of small towns in their latest video, “People In This Town.” We appreciate the positive light on the community that shares all of life’s moments at the local watering hole. Since we are from a small town, the video has been chosen as the Flawless Friday Video.
The Tigers include guitarist Chase Kerby, drummer Dustin Ragland, organist Chris Wiser, and bassist/sound engineer Michael Trepagnier.
“ ‘People In This Town’ is really just about the overlooked or hidden aspects of a small town that are often taken for granted. Norman, OK is governed by religion, sports, and partying and while that maybe isn’t that different from other places, those are still powerful forces that shape people’s lives,” says Beau Jennings.
The song could be in the ranks with other popular songs about small towns. Two of my favorite small town songs are “Small Town” by John Mellencamp and “Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town” by Pearl Jam.
