The rumor is that Jason Momoa wants to start a brewery in Detroit. Can it be true? Could my sun and stars really be so close? Detroit isn’t that far – only an hour and a half. Maybe two hours.
I could commute.
I could learn about beer and breweries.
I can keep dreaming.
Aquaman will be out soon enough. Plus, Momoa will be at the Indianapolis Comic Book Convention in March. My chances of meeting him are pretty good, especially if I do a photo op.

This is the article about the Detroit brewery and my sun and stars.
Okay, he’s not my real sun and stars. However, my actual and factual sun and stars could be talked into going on a brewery tour and a comic book convention, which is one of the reasons that he is my sun and stars.
Technically, it is on a plate.
Sept 18th: Tell a tale of traveling, a city or country you’ve been to or a favorite vacation.
While we were in Denver, Lucas wanted to visit the Oskar Blues Brewery. We had a lot of fun on our tour. Have you ever seen a happier guy? We also tried all of the samples. Lucas’ favorite beer is Deviant Dale’s. My personal favorite is Ten Fidy. It seriously tastes like coffee.
Everyone was super cool and friendly. I think Lucas could have made it the place where everyone knows his name.
The Rye of the Tiger packaging definitely spoke to me at the store. It said “Buy Me. Try Me.” So I did. A+ to the design people at Great Lakes Brewing Company. I love the name. Whoever came up with the name is a genius.
I even tested it before Lucas got home. And then I left the rest of my bottle for Lucas to drink. It seemed bitter to me. There are a lot of hops in this beer. This beer is not for the faint of heart. The alcohol content is 7.5%
On the other hand, Lucas really enjoyed Rye of the Tiger. He likes hops and this beer has plenty. He commented that it’s one of his favorite Great Lakes Beers.
Maybe I’ll have better luck with the Commodore Perry IPA or the Eliot Ness Amber Lager.
I’m pretty sure that I’m a girl drink drunk. I want less hops -more sweetness, which is why I have Lucas try out the beer.
P.S. I’m not really a drunk per se. But I do like drinks with umbrellas.
The beer that expert, Lucas, says that Dortmunder Gold is the cornerstone of the Great Lakes Brewing Company. It’s not their slogan but it should be.
Dortmunder is a golden lager. Lucas gives it a 9.5111 on a 1-10 scale. As far as comparing it to another lager, it’s pretty heavy. Dortmunder is probably the heaviest of lagers.
Someone had a lot of time on their hands this summer. 🙂 They are different sizes but inside they are all the same.
Lake Erie Monster, an India Pale Ale, is similar to the other Great Lakes Beers, yet it has it’s own flavor. The Lake Erie Monster is one of Lucas’s favorite beers. Apparently, it has a high alcohol content. You may not need to drink as many to become intoxicated. Lucas said that he’s always looking for the Lake Erie Monster. He hasn’t found him yet.
On a side note, there is also a professional hockey team in Cleveland called the Lake Erie Monsters.
I’m hoping to try the Commodore Perry IPA soon. They also have an Oktoberfest lager, which is available in stores now.

Foster’s Premium Ale is a good lager according to Lucas, who tests every beer we find. If you didn’t know, Foster’s is an Australian beer in 25.4 oz cans. He says that it is a step up from the regular Foster’s lager. Foster received an 8 out of 10. I like to imagine that Hugh Jackman drinks Foster’s beer. 🙂 If I could find a picture of Hugh Jackman drinking Foster’s that would be ideal. Australia produces great actors and great beer!
