- Indie recording artist, Dearly, was formerly known by a different name. I asked her to do a guest post on the topic of identity. She says so much with just 159 words.
Identity: Something I’ve struggled to find in myself over the past few years and still am on the journey to discovering every day. I think I’ve gotten a better grasp on my identity/ who I am as a person/ artist over the past year, but it’s not always easy.
I waited for over a year to release my new single “Get With You Alone” because I was just so lost- I didn’t know who I was, or who I wanted to be. I knew with this song I needed to wait until the right time- until I had my crap together, had a plan, and could see a path I wanted to take the song down so I didn’t waste it.
Within my new project “Dearly”, I have started to find myself again. I can create unapologetically, be myself, and not be afraid of what others think of me- and to me, that is incredibly powerful.
I am Dearly.
