Poetry Maybe #44: Beautiful Snake

Poetry Maybe #44: Beautiful Snake

waiting at home
before the explosion
of clothes
 and makeup
 takes over the shopping cart

All of
it is make-believe.
We waste our time on
nothing that is real.

he wants entertainment
and finds difficulty
 in being alone
or together
below deck

will anyone remember
obscure details of nail polish
and glitter
that gets stuck in a snarl

relax, relax
pin up your hair
sense all of the tension
coming out of split ends.

Are there snakes here?
He gave explicit
instructions on how

snakes stretch their jaw

wouldn't it be a
scandal if I
turned into a snake
for kissing my boss.

  1. Things that aren’t real are only a waste of time if you don’t enjoy them.
