Interview
Who is answering the questions?
Hywel
Band/Artist Name:
Virtue In Vain
Tell us about your latest project:
Our latest single is called ‘ The Whispers Of Sleep’. The Whispers Of Sleep came about from a nightmare a member of the band had. At one point he wasn’t sure if he was awake or sleeping and even when he woke he wasn’t sure what was real and not. This song is built upon that feeling at that moment. The song also incorporates how our dreams/nightmares are created from our subconscious and how it makes moments from our past, be it places or people, feel so real.
Where was your first concert as a fan? As a performer?
As a fan for me, it was in the CIA in Cardiff watching My Chemical Romance
As a performer, it was in The Arena in Abertillery in Wales.
What is the secret to writing good music?
Experimenting and consistency. Try out new things or new styles and see how you can use that or build upon them to write what you like. Practicing and listening to a variety of different things also helps keep you thinking of ways to better your own ability.
Do you have a bucket list? If so, what’s on it?
Not really, I have things I would like to do and places I would like to play. Such as I would love to play in US, Canada, and the EU.
What was the last thing that you read?
One & Half Hearts by Mike Hranica. Great insight into how he writes lyrics and his process.
What are you listening to at the moment?
Bones by Make Them Suffer. I adore it. Really pushed the boundary of what a heavy song is and is incredibly catchy.
If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing?
I like to think it would be Artist Management. I enjoy the process of writing music and I enjoy it when I can help artists get their music out into the world.
Who would you like to collaborate with in the future?
Mike Hranica from The Devil Wears Prada or Any of Make Them Suffer. I think it would really be a good experience and the outcome would be amazing.
What do you want people to know about your music?
First, thank everyone for their time in watching and listening to us. We are currently working on new material that we feel is building on our latest single and will be our best material yet. Stay tuned to our socials for some news very soon.
