Interview

Who is answering the questions?

I’m Olli Violet, vocalist of Pressure.

Tell us about your latest project:

We are getting ready to release our first single in 2023. It’s called “All the Things” and going to be out on February 24th. It was written to reflect on the uncompromising urge that passion and yearning can inflict. This song will help you take a leap into some new and exciting experiences.

Where was your first concert as a fan?

I’m a huge fan of Korn. So at the first opportunity, I bought tickets for their show in my city. I was lucky enough to stand right in front of the stage enjoying every moment of the show. Awesome!

As a performer?

I first stepped on stage when I entered university and have never stopped performing since then. My very first song was a cover of the song “Keep holding on” by Avril Lavigne and I performed in front of 400 people, extremely exciting!

What is the secret to writing good music?

Confidence, honesty, and talent. From a songwriter’s perspective, you have to have the guts to talk about your experience, and a good song should definitely be based on real experience, that’s what makes it unique. Reflection of real feelings in a song works only if you really know what you are talking about. Only then people will believe you and hear the true meaning. And of course, without talent and practice, you will not be able to put words into catchy lines, and notes into music that fits the lyrics.

Do you have a bucket list? If so, what’s on it?

It’s long but I can write a couple. One of them is to get a tattoo. I’ve always wanted but never did. And as a Pressure member, I want to perform at one of the biggest Wacken-like metal festivals.

What was the last thing that you read?

It was a book series about Witcher, Geralt of Rivia. I wanted to know the whole story after I discovered the eponymous game series. By the way, fantasy is my favorite genre in both literature and cinema. So I was absolutely stunned by this fantasy saga.

What are you listening to at the moment?

I listen to a lot of music. I love finding new genres, new bands, and curious approaches. A couple of my new finds that I’ve been listening to lately: Tetrarch, The Great Discord and Unto Others.

If you weren’t a musician, what would you be doing?

I would definitely connect my life with art. Maybe I would be an artist, an interior or clothes designer, or maybe a writer.

Who would you like to collaborate with in the future?

In Flames, Sleep Token, and Alter Bridge…for the start haha. These three absolutely different bands haunt me and I would love to have the opportunity to collaborate with them someday.

What do you want people to know about your music?

Pressure uses a unique melodic ability, razor-sharp lyrics, and heavy music to deal with the pressures inside, outside, and all around us and of the need and urge to challenge and confront our demons and being able to change our fate.

  1. Neat!! I’m familiar with this band, I’ve written about them too before. Pretty interesting range of influence there between In Flames and Alter Bridge
