For the love of Pinterest

https://www.pinterest.com/holley4734/pins/

In the last few months, I have noticed how many bloggers, especially book bloggers, do not have a Pinterest share button. Why?! I just want to share your posts on Pinterest. Occasionally, I create pins for other blogs just so I can share their post.

Some people don’t like Pinterest or see the value. I don’t get a million views from Pinterest but I get enough to make it worthwhile.

Personally, I do not spend a ton of time on social media anymore. I have streamlined my sharing process so it’s less than 30 minutes a day.

Everything that I can share from my blog automatically is set up that way. At the moment, Pinterest is not set up to share the first post. If you set up a tailwind account, you can schedule Pins to share. It’s not totally necessary but it’s an option.

I can only think of five things that are really easy. If you are a blogger and want people to see your posts, then what can it hurt?

  1. Use good images. Pinterest is very visual. Images are what people see first.
  2. Put things from your blog on their own board. Also add your blog link to your profile.
  3. Share on a group board or on a Facebook group for Pinterest.
  4. Put a share button on your blog. For every post. Please. Please. Please.
  5. Figure out what works for you and your blog.

#WeekendCoffeeShare: Lost and Coffee Smoothies

If we were having coffee, I would tell you

  • I’m working on perfecting a coffee smoothie. There are several recipes on Pinterest. The one I used was for one cup. I forgot to redo the figures for making more. So I added ice cream. Ice cream makes almost everything better.
  • Lucas thinks I should sell coffee smoothies in the driveway. I’m not against the idea.
  • that I started working at a new place. It’s ok – not super fantastic. I know a few people there so it’s been alright.
  • I’m trying to get back into writing my book. I decided to break it up into chapters for now. I tend to get distracted by everything so it’s been difficult to concentrate on just writing. There are also writing tips on Pinterest. Off-topic: I still have a crush on Tom Jones and he can also be found on Pinterest. OMG. I love the Internet.
  • I finished reading, My Trip to Adele. I’ll be working on doing the review later today.
  • I also finally finished watching Lost. I was really happy that Sayid and Shannon reunited. That’s all that I really cared about – Sayid and his love life. And maybe Sawyer. Sayid and Sawyer are 90% of the reason I watched the show.
  • My middle kid will be so happy that I’m finished watching Lost. She wants me to watch Supernatural so that I understand all of the memes that she shows me.
  • Last week, I started planning posts on a blog calendar. It’s been helpful. Some people plan their blog out for a year. I’m not that ambitious. I planned for about a month.
  • Now I have to go take a picture for a future blog. The plan for the week is to read and take pictures. Plus, work. Gotta make that money.

Weekend Coffee Share: Focus is missing edition

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that

  • I left the coffee pot on too long. I think I burnt it but it’s still tastes like coffee.
  • My assignment at the temporary agency is over. Thank God! Previously, I worked at a very safety conscious factory. This last place was the opposite. It was like they never heard of safety or OSHA.
  • I’ve been trying to get some reading done. Book reviews, Book reviews, Book reviews.
  • And a million other things finished at the same time. I’m struggling to focus on one thing. So nothing really gets finished.
  • I did a few music reviews for the blog, which you will see next week. My music reviews aren’t really official or anything. It’s always just my opinion. Always looking for cool bands. Rock, punk, indie. Not really into death metal.
  • Maybe it’s Pinterests fault that I can’t focus? I’m still spending too much time on Pinterest. Jason Momoa pins are showing up on my feed so that is one blessing that I can count. jasonmomoa

  • The other thing on Pinterest are pictures of food, which remind me that I’m starving. I’m going to go make lunch and try to refocus. Also, I need to make sure I really turned the coffee pot off this time.
  • Hope you’re all having a good week!!

Cute Mugs and Things

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that

  • it’s hot. I’m ok with being hot but my coffee is not.
  • I quit my job again. I’ve also been struggling with how to put that on job applications. People frown upon it when you say, “I hated it. My boss was a bitch.” It’s the truth but people don’t want to hire people that say it out loud.
  • So I’ve been blogging more, hanging out with the kids and being poor. Plus, Netflix. Lots of Netflix.
  • I got through the current season of Orange is the New Black, all five seasons of Breaking Bad, most of The Keepers, a few episodes of the Queen of the South.
  • Honestly, it has been worth being broke to drive my kids around to band and tennis. The struggle to get my younger two off of their iPads is a real thing. I read an article that said iPads and tablets are like cocaine to kids. I believe it completely.
  • ChoreMonster is the best app in the world. Whatever gets my kids to do something besides play Minecraft is my favorite. If you’re a parent, you should look into it.
  • At the moment, my kids are at their grandma’s house getting spoiled and not doing any chores or reading any books.
  • My oldest kid brought her bunny over for a few weeks. I’ve been feeding him and trying to keep the cat away. There may have been a picture or two taken.
  • I’ve been on Pinterest a lot.
  • Old post about Pinterest
  • I made a Jason Momoa board.
  • Here it is.
  • Holley’s Jason Momoa board
  • I’ve done a few reviews. Visit my review page to see what’s new.
  • Chasing Destino’s Reviews

  • My hair was out of control. I was starting to look like Mario Lopez but not as handsome. Still, better than Screech. There was this curly mohawk mullet thing going on. So I got a haircut.

  • I finally got another job. My prediction is that it will be boring. It’s fine. If boring pays the bills, then boring is fine.
  • The plan besides work is to keep reading books, keep doing stuff like exercising, scrapbooking, blogging and creative stuff. It’s difficult to maintain a balance sometimes. What else am I going to do?
  • My boyfriend will appreciate it if I find a new place for the scrapbook stuff. (It’s probably not  happening anytime soon. If I put it away, then I won’t finish it ever.)
  • What have you guys been doing?

I was almost too lazy to post the link.

Weekend Coffee Share: there’s paint in my mohawk

So this weekend, I looked at Pinterest. I found coffee related things to fuel a million DIY projects.

I decided that I needed to have beautiful kitchen cabinets. They look like this . . .

I knew right away that I was in over my head. After a few trips to the store, paint in my mohawk and kitchen in a chaotic state, the cabinets look like this . . . .

The lady at the Dollar Store has faith in me.

Pinpal Puzzle Project: Update

pinpal

The entries for the pinpal puzzle project are beginning to arrive! I feel like Penny Lane in “Almost Famous” when she says “It’s all happening.”

It’s been a million years since I’ve been excited about checking the mail. It’s also been awhile since I’ve received a real letter.

Now I have to figure out what my puzzle piece is going to look like.

We hope to have all of the entries in by February 14.

Adventures in Blogging: Share Buttons vs. Email Only

bloglovin

A few months ago, I tried a little experiment with my follow buttons. I took most of my follow me  buttons from Twitter, Pinterest, etc. down.  Although, I think I did leave the Bloglovin button up. For the most part, if you wanted to see my blog, you actually had to subscribe to email or visit the blog every day.

Honestly, I really did not see an increase in views. There wasn’t really an incredible increase in followers either.

The follow me social media buttons are back on the blog.

Pinpals Unite: Searching for Pinpals

pinterest

It seems like just yesterday, Kate from https://didthatjusthappenblog.wordpress.com/ and I were talking . . . wait, it was yesterday. We were discussing how we live so far apart and wouldn’t it be so great if we lived closer. I’m opting for a move to Texas. I live in Ohio and it is frigid right now. Let’s face it, it will be frigid for a few more months.
So from that conversation about distance, Pinterest and Yoga, we thought of the idea for doing a long distance art project.
We looked on Pinterest, of course, and found this project. However, we would like to invite a few more friends to join in. If you are interested, contact me on the blog, Twitter, Facebook or Pinterest. The idea is to do one of the puzzle pieces and send it back by February 14. We’ll put it together. Take lots of photographs. I’m sure we’ll do a blog post about it.
It’ll be fun! So let me know who wants a puzzle piece.

Confession: My Bedroom is Messy

What’s messier right now — your bedroom or you computer’s desktop (or your favorite device’s home screen)? Tell us how and why it got to that state.

Blasted air conditioner!
Blasted air conditioner!

When I am awake and not at work, I don’t spend too much time in the bedroom. Some of you might say that this is my problem. Haha. Anyway . . .

The bedroom is a work in progress. I’m still arranging clothes. We need to paint it. We definitely need a new bed.

There is a huge air conditioner in the middle of the floor. When I say middle, I mean – it is almost directly in front of my dresser. This makes putting clothes away difficult.

Hope is not lost! There are plans in the works to re-do the bedroom. I found a bed that can be made for $50. It is beautiful. It will be mine.
