30 Day Yoga Challenge: Day 18

Do or do not, there is no try. Yoda is my motivation for doing yoga today. There were even a few YouTube video which bases the yoga on the wisdom of Yoga.
Try not to pay attention to the unfinished ceiling in the second video you must. She does have some valid points about fighting depression. We have to keep fighting the winter blues. I find yoga to be especially helpful in warding off the blues.
I also am going to do the third video for the yoga workout today.
May the force be with you!

30 Day Yoga Challenge: Day 17

I was so close to missing my yoga workout today. It would have been disappointing to miss after so many days. Luckily, I made it home in time to try out Lesley Fightmaster’s yoga class. She has a soothing voice and is also very encouraging. I definitely recommend trying out one of her classes.

Back in the day, I could do a backbend. Back in the day was sooo long ago, although it seems like it was just yesterday. It is yet another pose that I’m aiming to accomplish.

Oh Jillian Michaels, I just don’t know about this yoga video. It seems a little bit aggressive for yoga. If I don’t get this yoga pose right, are you going to come through the screen and yell at me?

Seriously, I couldn’t watch this whole video. It didn’t seem like what yoga is supposed to be, as far as meditation.

I switched to this one. It seemed less scary and a little more like yoga, if yoga was a bubbly cheerleader. Still, it was fine.

30 Day Yoga Challenge: Day 16

10 minutes of working on the core? Perfect. I’m almost running out of time. Luckily, there was a 10 minute video. It was awesome. Tara Stiles has the most relaxing sit-ups ever until you start to feel the burn in your muscles. Before you know it, you’re working up a sweat and then it’s over.

Sorry, I could not resist.

P.S. I did find a website, Cloudy with a Chance of Wine, with more workouts for moms who don’t have time. The link is under the picture at the top. Enjoy!

30 Day Yoga Challenge: Day 15

For Day 15, I did a 15 minute video. It may have been a coincidence. Whatever the case, it all worked out. I worked it out by working out.  Can you believe that I’m halfway through this challenge?  This is the longest stretch of time that I’ve worked out on purpose in many years. It’s about time that I quit being lazy about getting in shape.

I am the warrior. Now I have the song by Scandal stuck in my head. It should be a good day then.

30 Day Yoga Challenge: Day 12

Day 12 of the 30 Day Yoga Challenge presented itself with some challenges. I tried to take a nap but I was too busy blogging and trying to find a good yoga video.

Finally, I found one that was the right length and level. 12 days ago I couldn’t do too many of these poses. I can honestly say that I could do plank, downward facing dog and cobra. Let’s not forget about Shavasana.  I can totally do Shavasana.

My balance needs some work. I really want to master tree pose someday.

Tomorrow, maybe I will try yoga in bed. Stay tuned!

30 Day Yoga Challenge: Day 11

Dear Readers,
It’s day 11 of the 30 Day Yoga Challenge. I haven’t given up. In fact, yoga is one of my favorite parts of the day. It really has helped me to de-stress and focus. Sometimes, I do meditate at work so I don’t freak out. My co-workers probably appreciate less freaking out.

I think that I’m improving as far as flexibility and balance. There is still a lot of work to be done.

Today, I chose a video from PsycheTruth on YouTube.  I didn’t really notice her belly button ring. I was a little more focused on my own exercise.  She also has several yoga videos if you’re interested. I don’t feel the ache in my muscles yet but I have a feeling that I will.

30 Day Yoga Challenge: Day 10

Grace is ever present. All that is necessary is that we surrender to it. ~Ramana Maharshi

I can’t believe that I’ve done Yoga for 10 days. I’m not sure if I’ve ever exercised 10 days in a row. . . ever.

Today, I found a  10 minute video for working on abs, which I need a tremendous amount of help with.  Yoga by Candace was a really great workout. I know the background isn’t much to look at; however, the exercises are good. So focus on the exercise and not the pile of stuff on the floor behind her.

If you can’t stop thinking about the door or the cabinets or the stuff on the floor, she has many other videos to watch.

Candace also send me a tweet since I watched and like one of her videos. What a lovely person! 🙂

30 Day Yoga Challenge: Day 9

Day 9 of the 30 Day Yoga Challenge is upon us. There was no one around to motivate me so I had to find some motivation within myself. It’s not that I don’t enjoy yoga, I enjoy yoga quite a bit.  The lack of caffeine and energy gets to me sometimes.

I did find this video from Yoga International. There wasn’t any music with it so I found a video on YouTube with Yoga meditation music. It worked out really well to play them at the same time.

For me, it is almost impossible to do some of the squatting. My knees are terrible. So I will keep trying to do some of the challenging poses.

I’m not sure if it will work. It may be too distracting. However, it may be the  motivation that I need. Is it wrong to laugh  during yoga?

30 Day Yoga Challenge: Day 7

Dragon Pose http://oh-my-gackt.tumblr.com/post/6320741792
Dragon Pose

This morning I did not want to get out of bed. My muscles and joints were saying “No more exercise. We ache.” My mind was saying, “Maybe just meditate. But get out of bed you lazy girl.”
I did find a nice video with meditation and stretches from Yogi Nora. I really enjoy her videos. She is very encouraging. Yogi Nora said that it’s not a competition to see who is the fastest. She just wants everyone to try their best. So that’s what I did today. It’s nice that she gives options for those of us who are not as flexible or have bad knees.
I think I could do the dragon pose by the end of the year.
FYI: I think I have lost a couple pounds. Just sayin’. It’s a combination of Yoga, drinking more water and not eating junk food. There is still a long road ahead to getting in shape but I’m on the way.
