Happy Halloween Lenore

Happy Halloween: Lenore

One of my favorite comic books is “Lenore”. It was first published in 1998 by Roman Dirge. Although, it is a little twisted and dark, I find it most of it to be quite humorous. I probably would not let my kids read it until they are much, much older. I have read that it has also been made into an animated series. I have not seen the animated version yet.
According to Dirge, Lenore is a “cute little dead girl.” She lives in the town of Nevermore. It seems like the living characters do not realize that she is dead. Bad things seem to happen around Lenore but she doesn’t do too many things out of malice. Lenore reminds me a little bit of Wednesday Addams from “The Addams Family” but not quite as vindictive. On a side note, there is a musical on Broadway about “The Addams Family.”
There are several references to Edgar Allan Poe’s poem “The Raven.” Lenore is also the name of the woman discussed in the Poe’s poem.

Here is a link to “The Raven” by Edgar Allan Poe. There is also an audio recording.

“Just a small town girl – living in a lonely world.” Concert tickets are practically essential. Musicals are the key to life. I like movies, music, books, and corny jokes.
